South Yorkshire's listings split between Chesterfield and Doncaster, each currently down for a single venue. Both sit within reach of Leeds's much bigger cluster further north, which may be part of why neither has grown beyond a single business so far.

Doncaster's history as a railway town and Chesterfield's crooked spire give the two towns their own distinct character despite matching venue counts. Ripley, in neighbouring Derbyshire, sits in much the same spot, suggesting this whole stretch of the country is developing at an even pace.

Chesterfield sits just off the M1, while Doncaster sits beside the A1(M) further east, putting the two towns on opposite sides of the region's motorway network and a fair drive apart from one another. Sheffield, the region's largest city, doesn't currently have a listing of its own, which is worth knowing if neither Chesterfield nor Doncaster fits. Doncaster's racecourse and Chesterfield's market both bring a decent crowd through their respective town centres most weeks, quite apart from either town's head spa listing.
